Assignment 9A- Testing the Hypothesis Part 2
Who: The opportunity I had presented of being able to locate your friends and family in Magic Kingdom would ideally apply to everyone who attends the park. However, it certainly would apply more to people who go to the park very often or who have annual passes. In comparison to the other interviews I had conducted, the people I interviewed this time live in Orlando near Disney or have an annual passes. Three out of the five people I interviewed thought that the product would be a good idea since they would like to know where the people that they came with are in the park. The other two people that I interviewed had a few concerns. One being that the location wouldn't be as accurate or that by the time that they got to their friends they would've moved to another place. They also found that because Disney would have to implement this device into the magic bands, there would be a slight raise in the prices of the tickets. Another concern that they had was how the tracking device turn off as the left the parks. They also believe that because they go very often or most of them had annual passes they didn't find the need for this device as they change parks during the day and most times don't even stay for the entire day.
What: This need applies for a lot of people that go in large groups to the park and also parents who have small children. Some of the people that I interviewed seemed to go in large groups only sometimes because they had access to the park more frequently. They seemed to only go with 1 or 2 other people because not everyone in their friend group had annual passes.
Why: Some of the people I interviewed seem to like the idea but found that there could be a lot of issues with the product. They felt like it would be unnecessary to have this product because they had other ways of communicating.
Inside the boundary Outside the boundary
Who is in: -Large groups of friend Who is not: - People who attend park with 1-2 others Families with small children
Need: Easier to locate people you're with Need is not: Tracking the other 1 person you're with
Why: loosing track of people Alternative: People already have phones/ don't split up
Hi Juliana!
ReplyDeleteI agree that with smaller groups of people you would not need this product because chances are you will not separate from them. I also understand the concern for Turing the bracelet off once you have left the park. I think this product could be really helpful for big groups of people with are not as familiar with the parks, such a tourists.
I think you got some really great feedback from your interviews! They pointed out a lot of things that I'm sure you may not have thought of, which is what I think is great about asking potential customers. I still think it is a great idea but do understand the concerns the interviewees brought up. Especially the one about raising prices, and that a lot of annual pass holders probably don't have a huge group of friends who also are passholders so this may actually be more useful for non-passholders who go in big groups or with lots of small children. Great job on this post!
ReplyDeleteWhile people have other ways to communicate, there is still a market for it. People are usually lazy and setting up an app to find your relatives is troublesome. If you offer the bracelet that will only work inside the park's boundaries, you take the weight of people's back to search for a reliable GPS-Tracking app.
ReplyDeleteI still think this is a great idea, while some people are now out of your market there are still tons and tons of people who attend the park every day that are well inside of your boundaries and could make this a promising venture. Identifying the peak market and who to go after would greatly help you in this idea. Great Job and I really see a future for this opportunity.
