Assignment 8A

Assignment 8A- Solving the Problem

The problem I identified was that Magic Kingdom is a very big park and people can get easily lost in it. They might not even get lost, maybe they just want to go to different parts of the park with different people. This is mostly a problem for parents with small children that they can easily lose track of. It can also be a problem for a large group of people that split up. They would have to constantly pay attention to their phones so that they can find the people that they arrived with. Your phone can run out of battery and now you would have to find another way to communicate with other people.

The solution I came up with is installing a GPS tracking device for the magic bands which are the now the tickets for Magic Kingdom. This device paired with the already made application for the Disney park would be a perfect solution to getting lost. There are also machines already installed around the park to get your fast passes for the day. This could also serve as a way of finding the location of the people you came with. As to finding the location of people in your party, you can link all of the magic bands which are the tickets together and find the specific location for your friends and family.

  1. I am honestly interested in hearing more about the implementation of your opportunity. It would save guests a lot of time and reduce their worries, thus making their experiences at the park more enjoyable. Your solution is well thought out, and I admire the fact that you are so passionate about it. I can't wait to see how this all works out!

  2. As mentioned in the other comment, I enjoy your idea a lot. Parks that implement it as an external service would see an increase in revenue which is what they are looking for. People pay hundreds of dollars to go to Magic Kingdom, but they will pay even more to make sure their children is safe and secure. The band could have an alarm that in case the parents lost their child, they set the alarm and workers at the park would immediately take care of the child while looking for the parents.

  3. I think this idea has a lot of really good potential and could definitely help families who are frequent goers of these them parks. Parents are always worried about losing their children and if they could have another way to keep track I am sure they would be on board. The only thing that could be a problem would be if somehow a little kid lost their bracelet or if they took it off. I think there would need to be a way that children under a certain age could only take off the bracelet with their parents help that way you don't lose track of the GPS device.

  4. I love this idea so much! I think it could really work in Disney and also potentially Universal (I know their new water park uses similar bands). This is great for children who get lost and also for groups of family/friends who lose each other, especially if your phone dies. I like that you considered that and included a solution to that by having people go to the kiosks if they can't use their phone app. Overall, I think you really thought this opportunity through and made a great solution that people would love to have!

  5. This is really a great idea, they already use the bands for payment and such at the Disney parks so adding a gps feature would not only add a safety feature for the parents it may allow the kids to have a little more fun too. If the parents had the peace of mind that they knew where there kids were at any moment the kids may be able to run along and enjoy the park a little more as well. A fast as technology is moving these days I can see something like this becoming a reality.
